Every action and event such as a birth, takes place at its own particular time, and accordingly, there are influences that will guide such actions. These are the symbols and images that the Europeans mistook as gods, and why they assigned to our grandfathers a “pantheon of a thousand gods”. In fact, these are very real and natural elements and concepts.

With our first cry we are entering into this world and at that moment all these energies will reach us. These energies are always changing from one moment to another, so they are very personal.
The 9 guides of the night belong to count of TEZKATLIPOKA and help mold the potential that is received by our internal self. They will help us to know and accept ourselves as we truly are.
The 13 guides of the day mold our appearance and our personality. They will help us create the image that we want others to know of us.
The 13 volatiles are characteristics always united with the same guide of the day and the same number. These will help the guides of the days manifest themselves by the energy that we receive from the Sun; in fact they are part of the TONALLI, birth energy, of TONATIU.
We concluded this work summarizing the practical utility of this calendar system, adapting the information here presented in this brief introduction, in order that it may be applied now, in our daily life. It should astonish us even more upon discovering that this teaching is for all times, always effective and always active.
The knowledge of all our possibilities provides us with the coherence, rationality and sensibility to understand ourselves better. Given this we will be able to accept ourselves with our successes and our limitations by means of the positive and negative attributes, inherent in each one of us.
